Kudumbashree CDS
Launched in 1998 by the Government of Kerala, Kudumbashree is a state-level mission aimed at poverty eradication and women's empowerment. Operating in collaboration with local self-government institutions, this system implements various programs for the economic, social, and cultural progress of women.
1. Neighbourhood Group (NHG)
The primary tier consisting of women from 10 to 20 households.
2. Area Development Society (ADS)
A federation of Neighbourhood Groups functioning at each ward level.
3. Community Development Society (CDS)
The apex committee of Kudumbashree at the panchayat level.
The main objectives of Kudumbashree include fostering a habit of savings among women, promoting self-employment ventures, providing loan facilities, enhancing employment opportunities, and encouraging participation in social welfare activities.
Today, Kudumbashree has grown into one of the largest women's collectives in the world, playing a crucial role in strengthening women's financial self-reliance and social leadership.
